I get around 200 emails a day. I look for the ones from you, from my business contacts, and from blogs I love to read, such as Passive Voice. Half of the emails are weekly or daily advertisements which I try not to get so frequently, but if I love the product, I tolerate them. But I don’t open them. In fact, I toss those out without ever opening them.
So I absolutely, positively get it when my emails to you go unopened. We all have more important things to do with our time than look through hundreds of emails we really don’t want. I will work to make sure I’m not cluttering up your inbox too often and I will work to make sure the emails I send are worth your while to open.
This week you should get at least one email from me. In it is information about the new web store, some mailing list updates I made, the bonus book for email signups, and other misc things.
The contemporary book news email went out today. The paranormal news email will go out Thursday. If you signed up to get news about ALL my books, you’ll get both emails. Getting two won’t happen often, just around the holidays and maybe for something extra special, like the web store being available.
After this week, emails will once again be only about sales, releases, and news for mailing list members only.
If by Friday, you have not gotten at least one email from me, and you still want to get email from me, please sign up again through one or both of the following list links. Thanks for being on my list. I do not take it for granted. I appreciate every open and every click, even if it is just to look around. I hope you check out the new store on my site and the sales I’m running this month.
Check out the Christmas In July Sale. You can get half off a 3 book collection of my holiday novellas. Here’s the link to the browser based version of the email.
The paranormal email going out on Thursday has a special sneak peek of an upcoming book. It will not be available to web site visitors until the book is nearly ready to announce. There’s also a web store sale for one of my SciFi series.
Over the last couple of years, I have gotten a lot of reader email from my cross genre fans who tell me they have an strong aversion for the word “demon”, so strong it has kept them from trying this series. The Forced To Serve series is a science fiction action and adventure story, and not at all about a “demon from hell”. “Daemon” (aka demon, daimon) means “an inner or attendant spirit or inspiring force” among other things.
Let me explain it another way. Did you ever watch Star Trek: Deep Space Nine? There was a character who had a “symbiont” installed in her. I used the term “demon/daemon/daimon” because I didn’t want to copy a term from Star Trek. Jadzia Dax was an officer who had all of her memories and all the symbiont’s. Jadzia was a Trill alien who joined with Dax the symbiont alien. That kind of blending of two beings into one always fascinated me so I wanted to create my own.
I recently changed the spelling of the word across this series to the term “daemon” hoping that future readers will bring a mythological context to mind when they see the books. I’m hoping to put out another in the series this year. Book 4 is currently being recorded in audiobook.
For a limited time, the entire Forced To Serve series is running in an Amazon promotion. Everyone can read book 1 for free. Books 2-5 are available in Kindle Unlimited. Book 4, The Healer’s Kiss, is Chiang and Boca’s story and it is free to download today through Monday.
If you wondered what a romantic space opera was like, this is the perfect time to try this series. I think you’ll find the characters as funny and entertaining as any character in my contemporary books. I will be working on a Book 7 in this series soon.
So boldly go where no
man romance reader has gone before and try these science fiction stories. They’re at least worthy of a Star Trek reference. Fans of Firefly will find lots to like in this series as well. I’m secretly hoping Nathan Fillion might play Captain Liam Synar one day–lol. Every writer has to has a dream, right?
